Storybook Hollow Park

Storybook Hollow Park will serve as a cornerstone of the city's commitment to creating vibrant, accessible and sustainable public spaces.
Thank you for participating in the park naming process!
Project Background
Situated within the Paradise Pointe Subdivision, Phase 1 of this new 15-acre park is under construction by the subdivision developer, HSR Capital, and will be dedicated to the City upon completion of Phase 1. The site provides unique enhancement opportunities to existing features, such as oak mitigation zones that preserve native ecosystems, seasonal wetlands to accommodate wildlife observation, and the beginning of a trail system that offers connectivity to the surrounding neighborhoods.
The site of Storybook Hollow Park was formerly farmland and includes a large pond that has been used at various times as part of the farm, a duck-hunting site, and for wildlife viewing. The pond is seen by our community as the heart of the site, and a key element in the design of the park. The northwest corner of the site is a seasonal oak wetland and has long been home to a variety of native plants, birds, and mammals. Through community outreach, we learned that residents value the property for its scenic beauty and wildlife habitat.
The Master Plan was developed through engagement and collaboration with community members, City Council, Parks Board, and local organizations and adopted in December 2024. The Plan serves as a roadmap for the development of the park and establishes clear guidelines for design, funding, and implementation. Key features include a natural trail system within the Allen Canyon Creek watershed and connections to nearby Boyse Park, a nature themed structure, 15 spot parking lot, a picnic shelter and a restroom.
Thank you to all who engaged with this process to develop a Master Plan for this new park. Your input was valuable to this process and we appreciate you taking the time to respond.
Naming Process
On August 28, 2025, following several rounds of discussion and community engagement, City Council officially dedicated our newest park as Storybook Hollow Park.
Council expressed gratitude for the many thoughtful suggestions submitted by residents and the Parks Board. While the final name was not taken directly from one single proposal, both “Storybook” and “Hollow” appear in suggestions and the combination was inspired by the whimsical, nature focused theme reflected in so many ideas.
Thank you to everyone who participated and shared your creativity. Your input shaped the process and helped give this park a name that will delight Ridgefield families for generations to come.
Next Steps
Construction of Phase 1 is currently underway by the neighborhood developer, working closely with the city to ensure alignment with the Master Plan. Phase 1 will prioritize key amenities in the park's northeast quadrant, including:
- A Nature Playground
- A Picnic Shelter
- A Parking Lot
Additionally, a significant portion of the park will be landscaped. This phase represents an initial investment of approximately $1.2 million. Future phases will introduce features such as soft-surface trails, bird blinds, and an osprey pole, subject to funding availability. Upon completion of this initial phase, the city will gain a fully functional community park with room for future enhancements in line with the adopted Master Plan.
