Overlook Park Splash Pad
Located at the end of Main Street, Overlook Park "overlooks" the beauty of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge. The Park includes a stage where live music is played, a brick plaza, historical information about the early settlement of the Native Americans, and public restrooms. The Overlook Park Splash Pad will be constructed behind the stage at the existing park and provide a new seasonal water play area.
Project Background
This project proposes the construction of a splash pad behind the stage at the existing park. The splash pad will incorporate a combination of natural elements and ground level features for water play with the following considerations:
- Approximately 2,000 square feet
- Recirculating system
- Rain Garden
- Direct discharge to sewer
Next Steps
The Splash Pad is currently in a "test drive" phase. The fence is down, and the water jets will be on from 10 AM to dusk as conditions allow for the rest of October. Come give it a try, jump in puddles, splash around, and help us make sure everything is running just the way it should.
Behind the scenes, staff will continue testing the water every day, and the system will automatically shut off if anything ever moves outside of safe levels. That means you can play with confidence, knowing the Splash Pad is safe.
If you visit between 10 AM and dusk and the Splash Pad is off, that signals that it has left normal operating parameters and needs an adjustment before it can be available for use.
