Horns Corner Park is a 10-acre city park located just south of Pioneer St along S Royle Rd, next to Pioneer Village and Acero Apartments. The Master Plan concept features walking trails, an inclusive play area, multi-use sports court, a wetland boardwalk. The park will be developed over time in phases as funding allows.
Project Background
The City of Ridgefield requested public input from our community stakeholders to help advise the Master Plan for the park. The survey period concluded on Friday, February 18, 2022. Using your input, the consultant designed two master plan concepts. These concepts were presented to Council at the meeting on Thursday, March 10, 2022 and additional public feedback was collected March 15, 2022-March 22, 2022. The two concepts were synthesized into one revised concept and presented to Council in May 2022. The Master Plan concept presentation may be viewed below.
Phase 1 of the project was identified as Wetlands Restoration. Restoration work, in partnership with the Watershed Alliance, began in Fall 2022 to prepare the area for future park development. From November 2022 to February 2023, the Watershed Alliance hosted several volunteer tree planting events at the site. 75 volunteers planted 3,660 native plants!
Next Steps
Staff are actively looking for funding opportunities including grants and donations to keep building the park in phases. Wetland Restoration work will continue as necessary.
