In a growing community, information can travel fast – sometimes too fast to be accurate! Have you heard something that made you raise an eyebrow in disbelief? Have a question you just can't seem to get an answer on? Are you just doing your part to make sure information you pass along is true? Then this is your space to cut through the misconceptions and sort out the facts: what’s real, and what’s rumor.

To view some frequently asked questions and answers, see the sidebar (below on mobile).

We will route your question to the relevant City Department and respond as quickly as possible (usually within a few days). If your question is about something the City doesn't directly manage or work on , we will provide you with contact information for the agency or organization that does.

You will receive an email notification when we've posted a response. Your question and our answer will also be posted on this page for all to see, so please leave any personal information out of the question.

How many more weekend shutdowns of Pioneer will occur? This is getting to be too much.

    HarryGund asked 29 days ago

This weekend, Oct 25, will be the first weekend closure on Pioneer Street. There is another weekend closure scheduled for the following weekend, Nov. 1. After that, the culverts will be installed and there are no additional scheduled closures for this stage of the project.

While we did publish notice about previously scheduled closures, they were postponed/canceled.

Replacement of park signs is a project that is managed by the Parks Manager, Corey Crownhart and is dependent on funding. For the most up to date status on this project, please reach out to Corey at Corey.Crownhart@ridgefieldwa.us.

    Hello,

That area would be landscaped/managed by the property owner, "Pioneer Village Holdings LLC," not the city. Please contact them directly for information.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for reaching out!

We will relay this to Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) to have them remove the mile markers. This was a large transition and we are still catching some wayward signs. Thank you for letting us know.

Our most recent update on the Splash Pad was Tuesday, July 30 and is pasted below. We are currently still in the testing phase.

    Tuesday, July 30 Update:

This week, the City will be supervising the contractor’s testing on the Overlook Park Splash Pad that requires the above ground jets to be on. The Splash Pad will be closed to the public during testing, please respect this closure and refrain from playing in the water or on the pad.

There are two critical systems that must work for a recirculating Splash Pad to be operational and safe. First, the mechanical system that sprays, collects, and recirculates water must function at the right flow without major water loss. Second, the system that filters and sanitizes the water must be able to maintain safe chlorine levels. If chlorine levels fall too low, the water can grow harmful bacteria. If chlorine levels are too high, it can be dangerous to users. These are the systems that the contractor has been working on, and this week’s testing will allow us to make sure the system can successfully maintain safe operation. Once open, this system will receive routine testing and maintenance similar to any public pool.

Results from this testing will determine when the Splash Pad may be able to open. If the system functions safely and properly, we may be able to open soon. If there are still critical issues, we will need to have the contractor continue working to make the feature safe.

In the meantime, please do not enter the Splash Pad when testing is in progress. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.

The splash pad is not yet ready to open for operations. We will share an opening date as soon as we have one. Thank you for your patience as we ensure that this feature is safe for our community and staff before opening.

Will the splash pad ever actually open? I thought it was supposed to open last year?

Jeff Hansen asked 6 months ago

Yes, the splash pad will open this summer.

The plan was for the splash pad to open in the summer of 2023. Unfortunately, we have experienced construction delays and equipment failures that have delayed the project completion and opening. We anticipate announcing a grand opening date soon.
