Capital Facilities Plans
The City of Ridgefield has been working through Envision Ridgefield 2045, a process to update Ridgefield’s Comprehensive Plan. As part of this process, we are updating our Capital Facilities Plans.
A Capital Facilities Plan (CFP) is a document that can help ensure facilities that serve existing needs are maintained and upgraded when needed, and that new facilities can be brought on when needed. by planning ahead to determine needs, a CFP can be used to prioritize projects, coordinate related projects and apply for grant opportunities.
Transportation
The Transportation Capital Facilities Plan (CFP) supports the Transportation Element and defines future multimodal transportation system needs for the next 20 years and was adopted by City Council on June 23, 2025.
Parks
The Parks CFP establishes a long-term strategy for park, trail, and recreation investments, including priority projects, cost estimates, and guiding principles to support community growth and quality of life. The final version was adopted by City Council on May 22, 2025.
Water System Plan
The City of Ridgefield has recently undergone a process to update the 2013 City of Ridgefield Water System Plan. The Plan evaluates Ridgefield’s existing water system and its ability to meet current and anticipated state and federal requirements for water source, quality, transmission, distribution, and storage. Recommended system improvements and operational modifications were developed to meet projected water demands, anticipated regulatory requirements, and planned infrastructure repair and replacement. Emergency operation, water quality monitoring, system maintenance, record keeping and reporting, cross connection control, and wellhead protection are also addressed in the Plan Update.
Stormwater Management Plan
The 2025 Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) Plan for the City of Ridgefield is a comprehensive guide outlining the City’s efforts to comply with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Western Washington Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit. Ridgefield, as a new permittee under the 2024-2029 NPDES cycle, is tasked with implementing measures to protect water quality and reduce stormwater pollution into nearby water bodies, including Lake River, Gee Creek, and the Columbia River.
2025 General Facilities Plan
The General Facilities Plan aims to optimize existing spaces and identify opportunities for expansion, ultimately providing quality, efficient workspaces for city staff. By aligning their facilities with future growth, Ridgefield intends to enhance operational efficiency, support staff productivity, and create an environment that can adapt to the city's continued development in the coming years. This strategic approach will play a key role in fostering a well-equipped, responsive local government as the city expands.
