My street is scheduled for resurfacing, what do I need to do before hand?

If you receive notification that your street will have resurfacing work done, please follow all instructions on the notice. If you have lost or misplaced the notice, make sure:

    • Move all vehicles and personal property off of the road during the work day(s).
    • Check that your street trees are properly trimmed to a height of 12' from the asphalt, or to a height appropriate to the individual tree that maximizes street clearance.
    • Follow all signage, cones, or other directions to avoid driving on freshly treated street.

My street is being resurfaced on garbage pick up day! What do I do?

Your garbage pickup will remain the same.

The city's contractor has been in coordination with Waste Connections regarding garbage/recycling pickups. Waste Connections will complete pickups through the areas in conflict prior to work beginning. The contractor will move empty cans from the street onto the curb prior to performing work.

Will the street be closed during paving?

Yes. It is important that NO CARS drive on the street while the paving work is completed. Please plan accordingly and park your vehicle on a neighboring street if needed to avoid driving on freshly treated streets.

The contractor will remove barriers to the street when it is ready to be driven on.

How long will the street be closed?

Residents should plan for roads to be closed 7 AM - 5 PM.

The exact length of time will depend on the conditions for that day. The contractor will remove barriers as soon as it is safe to drive on the street. Please be patient and respect these barriers to protect this investment in our streets.

Why is my street not being resurfaced? When will you resurface my street?

Streets in Ridgefield are monitored and rated on the Pavement Conditions Index (PCI). Ridgefield aims to maintain an average rating of about 80 (Very Good). Each year streets are selected based on how we can utilize available funding to make the biggest impact.

What time will the street be closed?

Homeowners should expect roads to be closed 7 AM - 5 PM.

The access road to my neighborhood shows scheduled for repair on two days on the map. Will I be able to get in and out of my neighborhood?

    Yes.

Roads that have two colors (denoting work on two separate days) will receive resurfacing on half of the road the first day and the other half the second, leaving the other half open throughout work.

Why did the City come trim my tree?

Notices were sent out earlier this year to residents and HOAs along streets scheduled for resurfacing notifying of the need to trim street trees to allow equipment to properly move through the street. Residents were given a deadline of July 4, 2024 to complete this work.

Trees not sufficiently trimmed by Monday, July 22 had to be trimmed back by the City Public Works team.
